I read in the Sun yesterday that young women drivers are facing a 50% increase in car insurance premiums as European judges think that having fixed premiums by gender is sex discrimination.
So basically sensible young women drivers will have to pay the same amount of insurance as boy racers, even though young women are much safer drivers.
Statistic show that 96% of all dangerous driving offences are done by men and also that 50% of young men aged 17-18 have more accidents than women of the same age.
The decision by the European Court of Justice is expected on the 1st of March.
It is completely insane! How can they say that it is sex discrimination? If that is the case what about the old people who pay next to nothing for car insurance? Is that not age discrimination?
